About GuruJal

The Bridge Between Policy and People

From a Special Purpose Vehicle for Gurugram District to an autonomous force for groundwater restoration β€” building a water-secure India, one community at a time.

A rejuvenated GuruJal pond β€” clear blue sky, water meeting grass banks.

Vision & Mission

Water is the heartbeat of civilization.

It is the single most important resource that will determine the prosperity of cultures, economies, and the global future of humanity.

The Opportunity

India needs 35 million green jobs by 2047

India faces a dual challenge of environmental sustainability and rapid economic growth. With a population projected to exceed 1.6 billion by 2047, the demand for employment will be immense β€” especially as traditional industries face disruption from automation and climate change.

Green jobs offer a way to build economic resilience with environmental outcomes, empowering youth, enhancing rural livelihoods, and bridging the urban–rural development divide.

    Sector-wide investment

Our Journey

We are the bridge between policy and people

Our story began as a Special Purpose Vehicle for the District Government of Gurugram, tasked with improving water governance. Embedded within the system, we gained a deep understanding of policies and worked tirelessly to address gaps in implementation.

We soon realised that water management demands more than governance β€” it requires a holistic approach. True change happens when communities, experts, corporations and government bodies come together to build solutions from the ground up. This realisation led us to become autonomous in 2023, with a renewed focus on transparent governance, community-driven programs and integrated solutions for multiple geographies.

Today we are deploying innovative methods to restore groundwater and scaling our solutions across the country. What began as a single drop is now a river of purpose, flowing with the resolve to make India water-secure.
